Are you wondering how yogurt is made at home? With the recipe we have given below, you will get tasty yogurt. However, it is necessary to ferment the yogurt with yogurt again. You can get it from markets. Ingredients for the yogurt recipe are listed below:

How to make yogurt?

  1. To make the homemade yogurt recipe, firstly, pour milk into a deep saucepan and boil.
  2. After boiling, turn down the heat, cook it for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Then pour the milk into the container and let it cool until warm.
  4. Do not prefer plastic containers, as they cannot hold the heat, and prevent the formation of yogurt. You can use glass, steel, or pottery containers.
  5. If you do not have a thermometer, you can check the fermentation temperature with your little finger. If you can keep your finger in the milk for 7 seconds, it is ready for fermentation.
  6. The degree of milk should be around 45 degrees. If you ferment milk very hot, yogurt will be sour, if you ferment it too cold, it will not hold consistency.
  7. When the milk ready to ferment, add 1 tablespoon of yogurt yeast for each liter of milk.
  8. Add 4-5 spoons of milk to yogurt yeast and make it liquid by mixing. Then pour the leavened milk (yeast) into the container.
  9. Mix from the edge without disturbing “kaymak” on the surface of the milk and distribute the yeast.
  10. Keep in an unheated oven without closing the lid (or if you do not have enough time, heat your oven at 50 degrees for 2-3 minutes and turn it off. You can ferment the yogurt in the oven at this temperature in 3-3 and a half hours).
  11. Six hours later, take the yogurt out of the oven, close the lid, and put it in the refrigerator. Start consuming after one day.
